Waiting on Wednesday (8): Probabilities

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. The purpose of this weekly event is to spotlight soon-to-be-released books that you are so [im]patiently waiting for. It also gives other bloggers a chance to find and share books for To Be Read lists.

 The Probability of Miracles

ISBN: 1595143688
ISBN-13: 9781595143686

Synopsis (goodreads): Dry, sarcastic, sixteen-year-old Cam Cooper has spent the last seven years in and out hospitals. The last thing she wants to do in the short life she has left is move 1,500 miles away to Promise, Maine - a place known for the miraculous events that occur there. But it's undeniable that strange things happen in Promise: everlasting sunsets; purple dandelions; flamingoes in the frigid Atlantic; an elusive boy named Asher; and finally, a mysterious envelope containing a list of things for Cam to do before she dies. As Cam checks each item off the list, she finally learns to believe - in love, in herself, and even in miracles.

A debut novel from an immensely talented new writer, The Probability of Miracles crackles with wit, romance and humor and will leave readers laughing and crying with each turn of the page.

Why I need this: This book just seems like it would be such an inspirational read. I'm usually stuck on YA paranormal/urban fantasy/romance books but every now and then you just feel the need to read something you don't normally read, and I think this would be the perfect book to read outside my norm. And I would really love to know what it is exactly about Promise, Maine that make miracles happen. It just sounds like an interesting place to be. Purple dandelions?? Everlasting sunsets?? Miracles? I'm in.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
Author: Jennifer E. Smith
Publisher: Poppy, Hardcover, 256 pages
ISBN: 0316122386
ISBN-13: 9780316122382
Expected publication: January 2, 2012
Pre-order: Amazon

Synopsis (goodreads): Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. She's stuck at JFK, late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18B. Hadley's in 18A.

Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

Why I need this: It just sounds like a cute adorable story about two teenagers falling in love. And I just love romances so of course I'm all for it. And she falls in love with a British boy. And I love British boys and their lovely accents.

What are you waiting for this Wednesday??
