Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. It's a great way to meet new blogger friends.
This weeks question is:
Oh goodness! I'm really not sure.. Probably Horrors. If they're not incredibly scary and have a really great storyline then I might try them, but I hate being scared. And I'll give a few examples: I tried reading Bag of Bones by Stephen King a few years ago. It gave me nightmares so bad that I couldn't finish it. I would lie down to go to sleep at night and I couldn't close my eyes, but if I didn't close them I would see things in the dark that wasn't there. It was horrible. Also, while reading The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare (and I think most of us can agree that it's really not that scary) I had a dream that something was slithering up my arm, only I couldn't see what it was and when I awoke I could still feel it moving up my arm. I was more than a little bit freaked. And then there was the time while I was reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that while sleeping I had this eery sensation that something was watching me. You know how when you're asleep and someone sits on your bed, you can feel it in your sleep and you slowly wake up? Yeah, that's what happened to me. In my dream, something was sitting on the bed near my legs, and as I was waking up (you know that in between state where things seem all too real?), I could still feel them there and when I looked to see who it was, there was Voldemort, with his snakelike face and black wizard robe, holding his wand, and staring directly at me. It took me a while to shake that feeling off. It is definitely not fun thinking that Voldemort is watching you sleep. So yes, Horror stories are just not for me.

Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

TGIF at GReads is a weekly meme started by GReads. It is featured on Fridays to re-cap the week’s posts & to propose a question for her followers.
This Friday's Question:
Buy
or Borrow: Where do your books that you read come from? The bookstore?
The library? Do you prefer to own a book, or have it on loan?
Well, the books that I read usually come from my own collection. I like to own books, especially books that I really love, so that they are on hand whenever I want to read them. It isn't that I have anything against borrowing books from libraries or friends, I just like to have my own books. I've always imagined my future home to have it's own library in it, that I can go to and pick out a book to read, or that my family will go to for books, and even some of my friends. Almost all of the books that I read, I buy them myself or they have been gifts to me.
What are your Follow Fridays, Friday Fives, and TGIFs??

Hahaha! I don't know why I didn't think of Westerns! My dad watches western movies all the time and I can't stand watching them. I can only assume that I would hate the books just as much!
DeleteI LOVE horror! I also loved being scared but I don't ever have nightmares. I can understand why a lot of people don't like horror. New follower :) Check out my FF:

I don't mind horror, but I don't get scared easily, so that's most likely why. And if I found Voldemort sitting on my bed I don't know if I'd scream out of fear or excitement!

Oh I was definitely scared! haha It would've been better if Harry or Ron was there, but no, it just had to be Voldemort! Lol
DeleteNew follower. I love horror books, but I've never found one that's seriously scared me yet. Maybe I'm reading the wrong ones *shrugs and makes a note to buy some Stephen King in the near future*
