My First Follow Friday Post!

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. It's a great way to meet new blogger friends.

This weeks question is:

Q: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.

Oh boy! Where do I even begin?! My taste in music is rather random; I love so many different kinds. I'll put this in alphabetical order, and I'll try to have a few videos that you can watch so you won't have to go Google or Youtube every one of them but I must warn you, I may not be able to put videos up with the computer I'm on. It runs rather slowly. Well, here goes nothing!

Adele - I absolutely love her voice!! I know several of my friends don't like her music, but I do. I think it's beautiful and I could listen to and sing along with her voice all the time.

Animal Collective - Their music is a little out there, but I've seen them live and they're pretty much amazing. My favorite song from them has always been "Summertime Clothes".

The Avett Brothers - I love their music and the way they can tell stories with their songs. And I just really love listening to their voices. "Paranoia in B-Flat Major" is probably my favorite from them.

Band of Horses - I first heard Band of Horses on the Nick & Nora's Infinite Playlist soundtrack and I've been in love with them ever since. Something about their music just soothes my soul.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - I love the energy in their songs. Although, it's kind of dangerous for me to drive while listening to them. They're music has a way of making me want to drive faster than I should!

Bon Iver - His voice.. oh his voice is just mesmerizing and soothing.

Bright Eyes - Conor Oberst writes such beautiful music. He has such a raw talent.

The Decemberists - I've listened to the Decemberists for years now. When I first started listening to them I was a freshman in college and I would listen to them on my way to class every morning: "Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then)" and "O Valencia!".

Explosions in the Sky - I started listening to them recently. Most all of it is instrumental, and it's all so beautiful. You've probably heard their music on the "Friday Night Lights" soundtrack.

Fleet Foxes - I'm not sure when I first started listening to Fleet Foxes, but I remember falling in love with them instantly. I think "Mykonos" is my favorite song of theirs. I also love the song "Lorelai" but I think most of that has to do with the fact that the title of the song is also the name of one of my favorite television characters: Lorelai Gilmore.

Foster the People - I know some of my friends would probably shake their head at me for putting this band on here, but there's just something about them that I love.

Iron & Wine - His voice is so soft and quiet, yet powerful. You can't help but listen.

Josh Turner - I have to mention Josh Turner. That deep voice of his.. oh man. I used to tell my friends that my future husband would have his voice.

Keith Urban - I've listened to Keith Urban for a long time now. I just love his music.

Lady Antebellum - One of my absolute favorite country music groups. I bought my mom their latest CD for Christmas, but I listen to it just as much as she does.

Modest Mouse - The perfect music for a road trip.

Monsters of Folk - M. Ward, Jim James from My Morning Jacket, and Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis from Bright Eyes. Need I say more??

Mumford & Sons - My best friend and I can't get enough of these boys. Their music just draws me in. I could listen to them for hours and hours.

My Morning Jacket - This is probably my favorite band right now. I saw them live and to this date, this is the best concert I have ever been to in my life. Jim James's voice is like an angels. And he sings just as amazing live as he does on his recordings and it's brilliant. I even met him backstage and got an autograph.

OK Go - This is the band that made the video of them dancing on treadmills. How much more awesome could they get?

Portugal. the Man - I've also seen this band live. It was a mesmerizing performance. I was hooked on this band from the very first song I heard from them.

The Proclaimers - I'm going to add The Proclaimers to this list even though the only song I've ever heard from them is "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)". If you watch How I Met Your Mother regularly or have seen the movie Benny & Joon with Johnny Depp, you know the song I'm talking about. I've always called it my "happy song" and my best friend and I looked like Ted and Marshall on our trip to New York over the summer, driving down the interstate singing along to this song. We even did the harmonies.

Ryan Adams - You may not know who Ryan Adams is, but I assure you he is an amazing singer/songwriter. You've probably heard his music while watching several different movies, including Sweet Home Alabama.

She & Him - M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel. I'm a HUGE fan of Zooey so when I heard that she had her own band I was like "whoa! What??? I have to listen to this!" She has such a unique voice and her music sounds like something you would hear on an oldies station, but that's what makes it so amazing.

Smashing Pumpkins - I listened to this band a lot throughout high school, and even still, I can't get enough of them. I'm pretty sure the song I've most listened to by them is "1979".

Surfer Blood - When I first heard the name of this band I thought "Blood?? Ew..." but after listening to their music, I was an instant fan.

Taylor Swift - I've been a huge fan of Taylor ever since I heard "Teardrops On My Guitar". A lot of people don't like her music, but there are also a lot of people who do. I've always been able to relate to her music. No matter what situation I'm in she has a song for it, and I love that.

Okay, I think I've given you a rather extensive list... hahaha. I tried to put up videos to the music I thought was least likely you've heard. This is only a very small portion of my favorites, but it gives you an idea of the kind of music I'm into. I hope that you spent the time to read this and will look up these musicians. Some of it you may not like, but I feel I've put up a little something for everyone, and if you look, you just mind find a new favorite band. Happy Listening!! :)
