Follow Friday (4) and TGIF (4)

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted byParajunkee and Alison Can Read. It's a great way to meet new blogger friends.

This weeks question is:

Q: What would your prefer: reading your favorite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? And why?

Well, I would have to say rereading my favorite books over and over. If the book isn't very good and I'm not into it, I definitely can't read it. And sometimes when you reread your favorite books, you find new things that you didn't notice before because you were reading it so fast trying to find out what happens, or you might have missed a small little detail. I'll give an example (Harry Potter spoiler! If you haven't read Harry Potter, you might want to skip this part): in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, all throughout the book a beetle shows up in random places, and the characters notice it, but don't really think anything of it, and neither did I. But this beetle turns out to be Rita Skeeter. After finding that out, I still didn't remember reading about the beetle. That is, until I reread the book. Sometimes it's the tiniest details we skip over that turn out to be pretty big things in the end.

TGIF at GReads is a weekly meme started byGReads.  It is featured on Fridays to re-cap the week’s posts & to propose a question for her followers.
This Friday's Question:

Love Stories: What are some of your favorite fictional love stories

Ohh, I love this question! And I LOVE love stories!!

1. Noah & Allie from The Notebook by Nicholas SparksThe Notebook is an achingly tender story about the enduring power of love, a story of miracles that will stay with you forever. Set amid the austere beauty of coastal North Carolina in 1946, The Notebook begins with the story of Noah Calhoun, a rural Southerner returned home from World War II. Noah, thirty-one, is restoring a plantation home to its former glory, and he is haunted by images of the beautiful girl he met fourteen years earlier, a girl he loved like no other.

The ultimate love story. I'm pretty sure this one needs no explanation.

2. Clary & Jace from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare - The New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments continues—and so do the thrills and danger for Jace, Clary, and Simon. Can the lost be reclaimed? What price is too high to pay for love? Who can be trusted when sin and salvation collide? Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

I really just love this love story so much. It's still going on and I'm hoping, praying that they end up together in the end. Even when there was a chance that they were related, I was rooting for them. I didn't believe they were related for a second!

3. Rose & Dimitri from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead - Rose Hathaway--a half-vampire with poor impulse control--is training to be a bodyguard for a Moroi princess. Learning to decapitate and stake is hard enough, but Rose's real danger may lie in an illicit romance with one of her instructors...

These two have some serious issues to deal with and are put through so many trials. Everything about their world is life and death, and it's such a fascinating read about love and the lengths people will go to for that love.

4. Hadley & Oliver from The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

This is really one of my favorite love stories. These two meet at an airport, find out they're sitting next to each other on a flight to London, and fall in love on the way there. It was so lovely.

5. Elizabeth & Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice by Jane AustenSo begins Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen's witty comedy of manners--one of the most popular novels of all time--that features splendidly civilized sparring between the proud Mr. Darcy and the prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet as they play out their spirited courtship in a series of eighteenth-century drawing-room intrigues.

I love the fact that they hated each other in the beginning. Those always make the best love stories, where they each find the other completely infuriating and despicable, and through a course of arguments and witty bantering, fall deeply, madly, passionately in love.

I believe this list will suffice for the time being. What are your favorite love stories??

  3. Yeah, I'd want to reread my favorite book over reading tons of mediocre books that just bore me to death. How is that any fun?

I love P&P, too! I like TMI, but I'm not a huge fan and I've only started reading it recently. I do want to see how Clary and Jace get through the first few books with all that awkwardness.

    Great list!

    1. Yay! 40 followers! :D And I'm pretty sure I've signed up on the linky, but I'll check just to make sure. I'm super excited to read it again, and I'm DYING to see the movie. I stood in the Walmart book section yesterday flipping through the Tribute Guide. There are a ton of new photos from the movie in it and couldn't put it down!

  7. Hi, Kelly!

I'm going around visiting some blogs I didn't get to hop to last Friday, and so I came across yours. What a LOVELY blog! Those borders are just exquisite!! I'm now a follower!

I love your love story choices, too! The only one I'm not familiar with is the Jennifer Smith novel, but that won't be for long, because I'm alread enchanted with the plot, so it'll soon be in my collection.

I've heard of the other books, of course, although I must admit I haven't read them, except for "Pride and Prejudice", which was reuired reading in high school. I don't remember much about the plot, though, so I really need to read it again.

Well, thanks for featuring such wonderful books!!
