In honor of the Hunger Games movie coming out in theaters on Friday, here are a few quotes from the book. Enjoy!
I feel like I owe him something, and I hate owing people. Maybe if I had thanked him at some point, I'd be feeling less conflicted now. I thought about it a couple of times, but the opportunity never seemed to present itself. And now it never will. Because we're going to be thrown into an arena to fight to the death. Exactly how am I supposed to work in a thank-you in there? Somehow it just won't seem sincere if I'm trying to slit his throat. (page 32)
"I've been very mysterious, though," she says, her eyes squint half shut. "Because, of course, Haymitch hasn't bothered to tell me your strategies. But I've done my best with what I had to work with. How Katniss sacrificed herself for her sister. How you've both successfully struggled to overcome the barbarism of your district."
Barbarism? That's ironic coming from a woman helping to prepare us for slaughter. And what's she basing our success on? Our table manners? (page 74)
"I'm not good at lying." I say.
"Well, you better learn fast. You've got about as much charm as a dead slug." (page 117)

I know! Me either. I'm so psyched!! I've already got my tickets from friday. :)
DeleteThank you so much for stopping by at my blog earlier, Kelly! Article 5 is really awesome, isn't it? I love the relationship of Ember and Chase even though it's really complicated. But these little, wonderful moments between them are just too cute.
ReplyDeleteOoooh - and Hunger Games. Of course. You picked some really great quotes actually. I love the first one, because you can be so sure that Katniss is just not going to kill Peeta in the arena, right? At least that's what you think. And the other ones... well, I like the process of preparing the tributes in general, because there's so much Haymitch. He's just really, really funny, but also a very serious and deep character. That's what I like about Suzanne Collins' writing in general: There is no flat character at all.
Hope you're going to have a great week! :)
Oh these quotes! I'm so looking forward to March 22nd when the movie starts in Germany. <3 THank you vor sharing them with us! :)
