Review
I always fly through these books and I was so sad to see the ending. It just came too quickly for me. I wish I could read more!! I love this series so much, and it hurts to see that it's over. I was very happy with this book. It was sad at times, but at others my heart glowed.

I know that at the end of Torn, I was dying to know if Wendy was going to go through with the wedding and marry Tove, and I'm going to give a little spoiler here: she does. My heart ached for Wendy in this moment; I knew that she was only doing this for her people and while Tove was a very good friend to her, he wasn't the one she loved. She had so much on her shoulders, not only because of the marriage, but because of the constant threat of her father and the Vittra. How could she possibly save her people from her father's vicious attacks when no one has been able to stop him in the past? And with her mother growing sicker and sicker, the clock was ticking. If Wendy became the Queen of the Trylle, everything would be over. Oren would attack, and there would be nothing left. They would all be dead. Then an unexpected visitor shows up wounded on her doorstep, reigniting feelings that Wendy was trying to forget and making them burn brighter than ever. I will admit that Wendy didn't make the brightest of choices at times during this portion of the story, but I loved every minute of it. I don't want to write too much because of spoilers, but I will say that I fell in love with the ending. I'm very happy with how things turned out and with whom she chose in the end.

The only problem I have with Ascend is that it was far too short. The ending came too quickly, and I wish there had been more to the story, but it was a wonderful read and I'm very happy to see that Amanda is writing another book; this time, about sirens. I am much looking forward to reading it.

I rate this book:
