Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. It's a great way to meet new blogger friends.
This weeks question is:
Oh, I know I'm probably going to get all kinds of hate for my answer to this question! While I do love this series, after reading so many books in so many different genres that were so much better... I'm starting to wonder what all the hype was over Twilight.
Yes, it is under my list of favorites. Yes, it was good. Yes, I loved the books and the movies were okay, but they didn't have that whole "my mind is blown" feel that I think a book should have to get so much hype. I mean, there wasn't much action in it at all and for the most part it was all Bella swooning over Edward or wishing that Edward was there or thinking about Edward or almost killing herself by jumping off a cliff just so she could "hear his voice". She was always pining over Edward or in a depression because he wasn't by her side. And to be honest, I didn't see what all the hype was about over Edward (can you tell I'm a Jacob fan?). He really wasn't that great. He was incredibly annoying, for one, and he was far too controlling. I'm pretty sure I would've been done with him after the first time he told me I couldn't hang out with my best friend.
Okay. Let the hate messages begin..

Q: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?

I did read the whole Twilight Series and yeah it was somewhat enjoyable but I definitely agree that it did not live up to all the hype.

Twilight was won of the first paranormal books I've read but I only became interested of it because of the movie xD Twilight didn't live up to it's hype but I still really enjoyed it. :P New GFC follower!

I liked Twilight, but not my favorite book, It was okay. So no hate from me. I don't understand many of my friends that said that Twilight is the best book they have ever read.. I guess they haven't read many books... ^^
ReplyDeleteThis was my choice too... and I think a misconception going on with this hop is that by saying a book is over-hyped is equal to saying it's bad.
ReplyDeleteI think what Twilight did to get Young Adults reading was AMAZING... but was the book itself, or the series, worth the hype? No. I have no idea why *this* book grabbed so many people... but alas.
